Remember Dorinda and the Ganesh wallhangings ???....

Decided to imortalise Dorinda...I have a vision that this will be a textured embroidered piece for my textile show in October thought I'd have a circus /fairground theme .......even thought I might have jugglers... fire eaters at the private view .....mmmm maybe not with all that fabric around ....
Progress on Ganesh wallhangings....
The wallhangings 'hangin' in the playground to dry.... They are now in the second stage.... the children have batiked the edges( look at the video how confident they were at batiking the edges they are only 10 ...thought they did brilliantly for 1st time at using a tjanting) and used coloured dyes for the borders the next step is shisha mirror work and tassels .......will make the shisha stitch a bit simpler for 10 yr olds though ......xx

The last DREADful day

This is the last day Jim will have his Dreads ......he is cutting them to collect donations for Fire Fighters Families Charity........two firemen lost their lives recently while fighting a fire in Southampton....it was near where Jim was brought up so he decided to help ....I made some of his dreads and tended them lovingly ......he has had them for 6 years now and I am a teensy bit nervous about tomorrow .....I expect he'll still be as cute ......we are going into the woods and cutting them in the countryside.............will post an apres pic tomorrow ..!!!

Just thought I'd add this bit after reading all your comments .....
Thanks for your support Jim is grinning reading these about how cute he is ....and wot a bloomin brilliant idea to use them in a piece of art or under the embellisher ...How GENIUS is that ...when I made them I used a method similar to felting and sometimes used crochet hooks to get all the stray hairs woven it so they are a piece of art in themselves.....they are so dense and heavy and sometimes it's like lying on a piece of old rope ..they take about 5 hrs to dry ....but you are all right ...of course he'll be as cute ....xx

Elephants,Warhol, Dorinda the Galloping horse and Big Ben....

Had a school trip to London today to visit Tate Modern......I saw some things I liked and a few pieces I didn't understand and some art that was downright disturbing but there were great elephants along the South bank...along with Dorinda the galloping horse...the London eye ....Big Ben...graffiti ...and even met my daughter Sophie....and had a train journey so I could stitch all the way there and back...altogether a perfect day....

'Dorinda'......

This is a picture of me in the morning looking for something to wear from the heap of clothes in my bedroom .....(you've seen my workroom !!!)
